Melodious Therapy

Birdsong may be something we take for granted as nature’s background noise—but it’s being used more and more for therapeutic purposes indoors.

Although the effect of birdsong on human brains is still being studied, many believe listening to birdsong can have psychological benefits—boosting productivity and creativity, calming the mind, and offering restoration from stress and fatigue.

Perhaps birdsong meets our ears so swell because we know that birds sing and chatter in a sonorous way when they feel comfortable and safe. Whatever the reason, the next time you find yourself in the company of birdsong, tune into the sweet melodies of your avian neighbors and thank them for their contributions.

If you take a moment to listen, you might find yourself cognitively relaxed and restored.
